Political uproar over Kharge's statement on BJP's power
Despite BJP's government in Uttarakhand, no action has been taken against those allegedly purifying the state.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was addressing a gathering in Patna when a person interrupted, saying, “Modi will not go.” Kharge then shouted, “Even Modi's father will go. His father will go. Even Modi's father will go.” If some blind devotee stops Kharge from speaking, then anger is bound to arise. Look, everyone has to leave power at some point. No one remains in power forever. At least when one dies, they do leave. The question is how they leave.
The question now is that BJP members are opposing Kharge's statement. Kharge is 84 years old, while Narendra Modi is 75 years old. This means Modi is nearly a decade younger than Kharge. Modi had called Sonia Gandhi a Jersey cow in 2004. At that time, Modi was 55 years old and Sonia Gandhi was about four years older than him, at 59. If a woman older than him can be called a Jersey cow, then an older Kharge can certainly say “Even Modi's father will go” about the younger Modi, right? Modi had called Sonia Gandhi an animal. Kharge has not said anything like that about Modi or his father.
It is said that Modi had also referred to Rahul Gandhi as a “hybrid calf” in 2004.
Now, it can be said that Modi, the BJP, and RSS are receiving a bit of a response in their own language. Kharge's language is angry, but it does not seem to be of a low standard. Modi's language clearly shows a lower standard. Kharge is a prominent Dalit leader and the President of the Congress Party. He recently addressed a gathering in a field in Uttarakhand, and afterwards, that field was purified! The BJP is in power in Uttarakhand, yet no action has been taken against those who carried out the so-called purification there.
Modi is also from the BJP, he is an RSS propagandist, and the RSS claims to work on character building. Despite this, what kind of character building has Modi undergone that he does not ask his own party's government to take action against those who insult Kharge?
Kharge's anger has now erupted, and there seems to be nothing wrong with it. It appears that Congress members are currently using polite language. If they start adopting the BJP's language, it is difficult to say what will happen, as that language has been taught to Congress by the BJP itself.
I remember one thing. This was when I was about twelve years old, around 1970-71. My father, Dashrathlal Shah, was a teacher at Gujarat Vidyapeeth, established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920. Morarji Desai would come to stay at the Vidyapeeth for a week every October for the convocation ceremony as the Vice-Chancellor. My father had a good acquaintance with Morarji Desai. Therefore, my father had gone to Morarji Desai for some matter. While they were talking, Morarji Desai allowed two Congress workers to enter his room.
In my father's presence, those Congress workers began to lodge some complaints about Thakorbhai Desai, a minister in the then Hitendra Desai's cabinet. Morarji Desai listened to their complaints very calmly. Then, interrupting them, Morarji Desai said, “Congress is not a bhajan mandali.” My father recounted this incident at home that same day.
I feel that Congress has become like a bhajan mandali of a village from 2014 to 2024. After 2024, Congress has awakened from singing the bhajan of democracy and has now entered the field to protect democracy, just as it did from 1915 to 1947 to achieve independence. It also wants power, and in the states where it is in power, it needs to maintain its power.
Anurag Thakur became a minister in the central cabinet in 2019. On January 27, 2020, he said, “Shoot the traitors of the country,” and remained in Modi's cabinet for five more years thereafter. As if patriotism is monopolized by the BJP and RSS. When Modi appoints a person believed to be involved in the Ankita Bhandari murder case as governor, Kharge is bound to get angry. Kharge is also a patriot. Therefore, Kharge's language and the anger present in it need to be viewed from this perspective.
