Why does PM Modi work 18 hours but 70% still need free ration

A nation runs on decisions, not slogans, and Modi government's choices reveal who they aim to develop the country for.

Any country is made up of its people. The direction in which a country progresses or what its future will be like is determined by those who govern it. India is a democratic country, and the criteria for considering a country as democratic are defined by those in power.

The Center of High Impact Philanthropy, University of Pennsylvania in its report Three ways to Frame and Measure Democracy, considers empowered citizens, fair processes, responsive policy, information and communication, and social cohesion as essential elements of democracy. When a country focuses on these aspects and prioritizes its citizens and their rights, it is considered progressive for its people.

Since 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party has been in power, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country's progress and direction can be assessed by the development and decisions impacting the people. To understand the state of education during Narendra Modi's tenure, one must address educational issues, exemplified by the recent protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper. Due to news of the NEET paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had to cancel and reschedule the exam. Approximately 21 students committed suicide due to the NEET paper issue. This data alone indicates the direction in which the country is progressing.

The future of the country is shaped in schools, and when the future of students is compromised, the country's future is doomed. The Aam Aadmi Party claimed on its X handle that approximately 93 papers have been leaked from 2014 to 2026. Additionally, graduates are not finding jobs in the country.

According to a report by the NITI Aayog,

only 8.25% are able to secure jobs within a year, and 80% lack practical experience. The country's economy determines its strength. Currently, the GDP ranks sixth.

Narendra Modi had claimed to make the country a 5 trillion USD economy. However, that claim remains unfulfilled. According to the 2018 claim, India was expected to become a 5 trillion economy by 2025, but now it is expected to be achieved by 2029.

The extent to which the government considers the interests of its people is crucial in a secular country like India, where all religions are equal in the eyes of the government. However, this seems to be mere rhetoric, as violence against Muslims is frequently observed during Modi's tenure.

Narendra Modi himself, during Lok Sabha elections, referred to Muslims as those who steal mangalsutras, and he has made several statements against Muslims. In one election speech, Modi mentioned that Muslims can be identified by their attire. During Christmas in 2025, numerous videos of mistreatment against the Christian community were uploaded on YouTube.

The Modi government has termed several of its decisions as masterstrokes, including demonetisation and Make in India. The Make in India initiative was heavily promoted by the Modi government, and its current state is well-known. Narendra Modi himself seems to have forgotten about demonetisation.

The condition of half the country's population is understood. During Narendra Modi's tenure, the slogan 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' was widely promoted. However, the condition of daughters in the country is no secret, with frequent reports of rape cases. Many BJP leaders continue to make statements about daughters. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi frequently targets the BJP on these issues. In Pune, Rahul Gandhi organized a women's special rally echoing the concerns of students.

The country does not run on slogans but on decisions. The BJP's decisions indicate for whom they want the country's development. When the Prime Minister works 18 hours for the common people, why is there a need to distribute rations to 70% of the country's population?
