Pentagon confirms 100 US soldiers injured in Iran attacks

The US acknowledges that around 100 of its soldiers were injured in retaliatory attacks by Iran.

The United States has acknowledged that nearly 100 of its soldiers were injured in Iran's retaliatory attacks. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell provided this information. He stated that these soldiers were injured in attacks that occurred after July 7. Of these, 96% have recovered and returned to duty.

Parnell made this statement in response to a New York Times report, which claimed that the Department of Defense was not disclosing information about American soldiers injured in the conflict with Iran. Meanwhile, attacks between the US and Iran continue unabated. On Monday, Iran targeted countries where US military bases are located. In response, the US conducted airstrikes on nine Iranian cities on Tuesday morning.

According to Iran's Labour News Agency, the cities targeted were Abadan, Bandar Abbas, Bandar Lengeh, Bushehr, Chabahar, Qeshm Island, Sirik, Shiraz, and Konarak.

Iran's Retaliatory Attacks

Iran has claimed that it targeted the US military base Sheikh Isa Base in Bahrain with drones. According to the Iranian military, this base is a key location for the US Navy's Fifth Fleet and is considered a significant center for American military operations in the region. The IRGC claimed it attacked a US-affiliated commercial site in Bahrain. According to Tasnim, the IRGC issued a statement saying its Aerospace Force destroyed Amazon's central data infrastructure with cruise missiles.

The IRGC stated that this attack was in response to recent US attacks on civilian infrastructure in Darkhovin. According to the Iranian military, kamikaze drones were used to attack three US military bases in Kuwait. Iran claimed that Camp Arifjan, Camp Al-Adiri, and Ahmed Al-Jaber Airbase were targeted. In another statement, the IRGC claimed it attacked several US military systems at Kuwait's Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the attack destroyed early warning radar, missile defense radar, FPS-117 radar, Patriot air defense system, and air defense satellite communication system.

Houthis Announce Naval Blockade on Saudi Arabia

Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen announced an immediate naval blockade against Saudi Arabia on Monday. Their military spokesperson stated this in a televised speech. The rebel group declared a "naval blockade against the criminal Saudi enemy." Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a video message that this maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia would take effect immediately. He described it as a policy of "an eye for an eye." However, the Houthis did not clarify how this embargo would be enforced, but the deputy head of the Houthi media office, Nasruddin Amir, stated on social media platform X that the Bab al-Mandeb Strait would now be closed to Saudi Arabia. According to him, this step is in response to the "unjust embargo" imposed on Yemen for the past 10 years.

Previously, Houthi rebels targeted ships passing through the Red Sea during the Israel-Hamas war. At that time, they attacked over 100 ships, severely impacting global maritime trade. Saudi military spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said, "Any threat by Houthi rebels to ships passing through the sea will be met with an immediate and firm response. Such actions are a blatant violation of international law and will be considered (Maritime Piracy)."
