27 killed in Bangkok bar fire as patrons seek refuge in toilets

A fire broke out at a bar in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, late Sunday night, resulting in the death of 27 people and injuring 63 others. According to Thai authorities, the cause of the fire might be a fault in the electrical system. Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site. He stated that all bodies have been recovered.

According to a BBC report, the injured are being treated in the hospital. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. The Fire Brigade Department stated that they received information about the fire around 12 midnight on Sunday. After about 30 minutes of effort, the firefighters managed to control the fire, but by then, a large part of the building had been burnt.

A musician present at the scene reported that just before the power went out, smoke was seen coming from the circuit breaker near the stage. Following this, there was a sound of an explosion, and the entire pub was quickly filled with smoke. He mentioned that many people, in an attempt to save their lives, entered the toilet located at the back of the building, where they died due to suffocation.
