On Friday morning, Congress leader Pawan Khera met Sonam Wangchuk and urged him to end his fast. Earlier, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal had also clarified that the Congress is firm on the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and stands with Sonam Wangchuk on this issue.
After meeting Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed deep concern about his health. He said,
The country is facing a government that does not take democratic protests seriously. In such a situation, there is a need to change the method of struggle, as risking one's life in any movement will not lead to a solution.
The Congress had also supported the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the examination system has completely collapsed due to the lack of accountability in the central government.
