Rahul Gandhi claims 200 officials from Modi government in touch with opposition

He urged everyone to join the proposed INDIA alliance march to the Supreme Court.

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that leaders of the INDIA alliance will go to the Supreme Court on Monday at 3 PM and will file a petition against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and ‘vote theft’.

At a press conference held at Indira Bhawan on Monday, Rahul Gandhi raised questions about Gyanesh Kumar regarding allegations of electoral irregularities. He appealed to everyone to join the proposed INDIA alliance march to the Supreme Court.

Rahul Gandhi said that if any person from the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to join, they are welcome.

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that around 200 officials of the Narendra Modi government are in contact with the opposition and are providing them information.

He said,

I want to tell Prime Minister Modi that 200 officials from within your government are in contact with us. They are providing us information.

Rahul Gandhi said on Monday,

We do not have a personal fight with the government. This is a campaign to save the Constitution. We will not stop until we get justice. Delhi has been turned into a fortress. Trains and buses are being stopped. We will not stop until CEC Gyanesh Kumar resigns; we will continue to protest.

Rahul further said that,

One day we were stopped by the police, at Jantar Mantar the police stopped us, they will stop us today too. Do you think this is just a one-day affair? Don’t think that it started 5 days ago. We have been stopped for years, and now it is visible. You think it is difficult for us. The police are beating us. As tired as you are, the police are just as tired. The police are saying, why are we protecting Gyanesh Kumar? We have to stay persistent. Keep your patience; we will do it, they will stop us, we have to stay persistent. However long it takes, a month, two months, a year... we will not back down.

The Leader of the Opposition said,

The CJI will not meet the opposition leaders. Whatever you have to say, file a petition in the Supreme Court. Today, opposition leaders will go to the Supreme Court to file a petition. Crores of youth want to save democracy, who consider the Constitution as a religion, we consider the voice of all as a religion, and there is an attack on this.

Rahul Gandhi further said,

On the first day, we said we would go to the Election Commission. All opposition leaders went there peacefully, but we were stopped. We were put on buses. We were told that we could not protest. Police officers say to protest at home. We said, please give us a place.

He said,

On the second day, we said let us sit in the designated area (Jantar Mantar). Then we were beaten. Then we went to Rajghat. We were beaten there too. Now we are going to the Supreme Court.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said,

‘These police officers are also disturbed by Modi and Amit Shah. They are saying, why are the youth being beaten by us? They are saying that we are being told to stop the youth. RSS goons are beating women. On one side, we are being told to use pellet guns.’

Rahul Gandhi further said that,

People are being stopped from going to Delhi. Buses and trains are being stopped, and people are being taken down. Delhi has been turned into a fortress. You will think how powerful this is. We want 20-30 thousand police officers on the road. We want to show the country that the government, Narendra Modi is protecting Gyanesh Kumar. The more they protect him, in the end, we will go to their controller.

Opposition parties of the INDIA bloc, including Congress, will march to the Supreme Court today. This has been named the ‘Chalo Delhi March for Democracy’. Opposition leaders will gather at 1:30 PM at the Connaught Place-Barakhamba Road junction. The opposition claims that this is the first time such a march is being taken to the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, on Monday, amid ongoing protests against police action against demonstrators, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud said that,

the Supreme Court should not be dragged into any politics. He urged lawyers to ensure that the court's functioning and the movement of lawyers, staff, and those involved in cases are not disrupted.

The CJI's statement came amid the opposition's decision to march towards the Supreme Court on Monday. Earlier, the CJI had declined a request for a meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
