Modi government bows to protesting students, Dharmendra Pradhan resigns

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday.

Finally, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday. He stated that he has submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As soon as the news of this resignation reached the students who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the past month, the students and protesters celebrated jubilantly.

It should be noted that on Saturday, there was another clash between the protesters and Delhi Police near Jantar Mantar, during which the police used tear gas shells and lathi-charged. It is reported that some people were injured in this clash. However, as soon as the information about Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation came, a wave of happiness spread among the students.

The Cockroach Janata Party had called for a candle march on Sunday in support of those who were victims of police brutality. On Sunday, reports of stone-pelting came from at least three districts in Bihar, where protesters clashed with the police over the NEET paper leak. JJD chief and Lalu Yadav's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, was detained by the police while he was participating in a protest.

On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the government in a press conference. He alleged that attempts were being made to save Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan through a cabinet reshuffle. The Congress leader said, "Nothing less than Pradhan's resignation will be accepted."

CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka said on Saturday that the talks with the government were successful, but he also stated that the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remained their main demand. Providing information about Friday's meeting, the CJP leader said that there was positive progress on the demands for compensation and withdrawal of cases against the protesters.
