Independent MP Pappu Yadav stages protest as a fake sadhu

MP Pappu Yadav dressed as a sadhu to stage a street play protesting against donation theft at Ayodhya's Ram Temple.

In the Parliament complex on Friday, opposition MPs staged a unique protest against the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The protest became more interesting when independent MP Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron clothes as a sadhu, enacted the 'offering theft' as a street play.

In a video going viral from the scene, Pappu Yadav can be seen sitting with a box resembling a temple 'hundi' (donation box) and enacting scenes of offering theft at the Ram Temple. During this, several leaders from the Congress and Samajwadi Party came to him and put money in the box, after which the MP pocketed the cash. The viral video shows Rahul Gandhi and some other leaders putting money into the box. MP Pappu Yadav pocketed the money to depict the offering theft at the Ram Temple. Yadav was also holding a picture of Lord Ram in his hand.

Samajwadi Party MP from Ayodhya, Awadhesh Prasad, caught Pappu Yadav dressed as a sadhu and demanded that he be hanged. This incident was part of a protest over the opposition's allegations of offering theft at the Ram Temple.

It is noteworthy that this protest on Friday followed another protest at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament complex on Thursday, where Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav accused the BJP of deceiving Lord Ram by alleging offering theft and misappropriation at the Ram Temple.

Dimple Yadav had said,

"By allowing the theft of Lord Ram's donations, you have deceived him as well. This shows the mindset of the Bharatiya Janata Party."

Earlier, under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party MPs had raised slogans of "Chadhawa Chor, Gaddi Chor" at the Makar Dwar and demanded a high-level investigation into the financial irregularities.

BJP MP Arun Govil urged the opposition to wait for the officials' response to the allegations. Govil said, "The government is working on it, and if any incident has occurred, they should wait for a resolution." BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi also targeted the Samajwadi Party over this protest. He said, "The kind of politics the Samajwadi Party is trying to do regarding Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya is very condemnable in itself."

It should be noted that this protest is also against the repressive action by the police during the students' march to Parliament on July 20. INDIA alliance MPs have demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah and questioned his absence from the House proceedings. Protesting in front of the Makar Dwar of Parliament, MPs raised slogans like 'Amit Shah resign', 'Amit Shah come to the House', and 'Chadhawa Chor, Gaddi Chhod'.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party's Awadhesh Prasad and Dharmendra Yadav, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Mahua Maji were among those who participated in the protest. They stood behind a large banner that read - 'Why is Amit Shah missing from the House?' INDIA alliance leaders have stated that

they will corner the government on the issues of Ram Temple offering theft and the use of "brutal force" against students during their protest over the NEET paper leak.

This protest is taking place amidst growing confrontation between the opposition and the central government on two crucial issues - first, the alleged theft of donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and second, the police action on students marching towards Parliament on July 20 over allegations of NEET-UG paper leak.

The INDIA alliance has accused the government of remaining silent on both these issues and has resolved to raise these issues both inside and outside Parliament. The opposition has repeatedly demanded Amit Shah's resignation. They allege that excessive force was used on protesting students during the "March to Parliament". Additionally, they are demanding accountability from the government and temple trust officials in the case of the Ram Temple offering theft.
