BJP voters express concerns over E20 petrol: C-Voter survey

A recent C-Voter survey highlights public concerns about E20 petrol, even among BJP supporters.

The latest C-Voter survey reveals clear concerns among people regarding E20 petrol. According to the survey, more than half of the people, including BJP supporters, do not want to use E20 petrol.

The central government is promoting E20 (20% ethanol blended) petrol, but people are worried about reduced mileage and its impact on engines.

According to the survey,

52.5% of BJP supporters refused to use E20 petrol, while only 18.1% were in favour. 29.5% did not express an opinion. Overall, 55.1% of people do not want to adopt E20, while 17.1% support it. 57.9% of opposition supporters also opposed it.

52.8% of people believe that using E20 reduces vehicle mileage, while 54.2% think it could negatively affect the engine. Only 10.9% said it causes no harm. 56.3% stated that making E20 mandatory for older vehicles designed for E10 is not right.

75.9% of people suggested that both regular petrol and E20 should be available at petrol pumps. Meanwhile, 74.5% believe that the price of E20 should be lower than regular petrol. However, even if it is cheaper, only 40.8% are willing to adopt it.

The government claims that E20 will reduce crude oil imports. On this, 37.2% of people completely agree and 19.5% somewhat agree, while a large number of people did not trust this claim.

This C-Voter snap poll was conducted through phone interviews with 1,641 people between July 8-9. The survey's margin of error is ±3% at the macro level and ±5% at the micro level.
