Connaught Place ordered to shut amid Jantar Mantar protest crackdown

All shops, offices, and restaurants in Connaught Place have been ordered to remain closed.

In light of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest, the New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) has issued an important advisory for traders in Connaught Place. According to this directive, all shops, offices, and restaurants in Connaught Place are ordered to remain closed until 6:30 PM on Thursday.

The NDTA stated that this decision was made based on advice received from senior officials of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). The association has appealed to traders to keep their establishments closed until the specified time and to follow the administration's instructions.

The advisory clearly states that

due to the CJP protest, the atmosphere in and around Connaught Place may be sensitive. This step has been taken to avoid any untoward incidents or loss of life.

The NDTA has appealed for cooperation from all traders.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal shared this advisory on his social media account. He wrote,

"There is an order to close all shops in Connaught Place by 6:30 PM today, security has been heightened and ambulances are lined up. Is the central government planning to attack its students at Jantar Mantar once again?"


The administration has tightened security arrangements to monitor the situation in Connaught Place. Traders have been advised to ensure their safety and to immediately report any incidents to the relevant authorities. This step has been taken to ensure security in the context of the protest in Connaught Place, to avoid any kind of disorder.
