After establishing Bhojpuri cinema, Ravi Kishan started trying to make a mark in Hindi cinema. In the 90s, he did small roles in films like Jakhmi Dil, Aatank, Army, etc. He came into the limelight by playing the character of Pandit Rameshwar alias Chundi in Salman Khan's much-talked-about movie Tere Naam. Additionally, his roles like the stammering goon Chhote in Phir Hera Pheri, the psychotic criminal Raghav in Luck, Mangal in Mani Ratnam's film Raavan, the main villain Sumer Yadav in Bullet Raja, and the Dalit coach Sanjay Kumar in Anurag Kashyap's film Mukkabaaz stick to our eyes.

Last year, he won everyone's applause by playing the character of Inspector Shyam Manohar, who always chews paan, in Laapataa Ladies. Also, his role as Advocate Tyagi in the web series Maamla Legal is remembered by all. His acting journey proves that he is a hardworking, talented, and successful actor.

After earning name and money in the world of acting, Pandit Ravi Kishan Shukla stepped into politics in 2014. He contested from his ancestral city Jaunpur under the Congress flag and lost badly. In 2017, he moved from Congress to BJP and has been the MP from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, since 2019.

Ravi Kishan is as good an actor in front of the camera as he is a poor speaker on stage or in front of a live camera. He and his rival in Bhojpuri cinema, Manoj Tiwari, are often in the news for their statements and ridiculous antics in front of media cameras. During the Jantar Mantar protest against the paper leak and demanding the resignation of the Education Minister, he called the NEET paper a newspaper. He says "home from work" instead of "work from home".

Ravi Kishan's most talked-about statement was given during the inauguration of the modern cremation ground (Guru Gorakhnath Ghat and Shri Ram Ghat) on the banks of the Rapti River in Gorakhpur. In the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath on stage, Ravi Kishan said:

If you die here, you will go directly to heaven. When you are cremated here, it will be so enjoyable. It is ultra-modern, electric. So, it won't take time to burn... you will go directly to heaven. He added that only those who do not defecate here in the morning will go to heaven.

Recently, when he reached Parliament in traditional Indian attire of dhoti kurta, the expensive Gucci bag in his hand was made of calf leather. While the entire Hindutva party and its affiliated organizations are going to any extent for cow protection, Ravi Kishan cannot resist publicly displaying an expensive Gucci bag made of calf leather.

While glorifying his days of poverty, he stated that he has seen such poverty that even today when he goes to a seven-star hotel, he does not order good food, whether it's the production's budget or his own money. Even today, he only orders plain khichdi. He hesitates to give clothes to the laundry.

Rajiv Gandhi fielded the then superstar Amitabh Bachchan against a stalwart like Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna for us in the Allahabad parliamentary seat. In Maharashtra's Virar, Govinda was fielded against the then Petroleum Minister Ram Naik. Amitabh won in Allahabad, and Govinda in Virar. It's another matter that both quit politics after a few years.
